At 516 ARTS we aim to offer opportunities and hands-on experiences to work within a non-profit contemporary art museum.
We are looking to take on motivated individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities.
Interns will be required to work a minimum of 8 hours/week for the period of the internship.
Interns will work with different coordinators, based on the interests of the candidates:
Some of the tasks for Education include: assisting with tours and programming, researching upcoming exhibitions, brainstorming and developing educational opportunities inspired by the exhibitions for a large variety of audiences.
The Development & Events intern will learn about various methods of nonprofit fundraising such as membership drives and donor mailings; this intern will also have the opportunity to contribute to the preparation and execution of various types of events.
Help curators and artists during installation times, gallery maintenance, assisting visiting artists, and researching and preparing exhibition lists for upcoming exhibitions.
The Marketing, Graphic Design & Social Media intern will work on marketing and promotion, including website management, social media outreach, and the design, production and distribution of print and digital materials, as posters, postcards, etc..
Hands-on experience in a non-profit contemporary art space;
Course credits (if agreed with Teaching Institution);
Free day parking in Downtown Albuquerque;
Memberships to the North American Reciprocal Museum Association (https://narmassociation.org);
Choice of one catalogue or other 516 publication;
Series of meetings with 516 ARTS staff members to learn more about the different professional figures involved in a contemporary art museum;
Networking opportunities with artists, speakers, and curators.
Reference for future applications at the completion of the internship.
